Organizing, processing and generating information are the raw materials of a new productive process whose result is knowledge. With effective and efficient handling and management, it becomes capital that can bring prosperity and progress, equal only to that brought by the industrial revolution in its early days. We need to know ourselves better as a nation, and that is becoming increasingly possible every day, so much so that we are now able to generate spaces in which to understand our world and prepare ourselves to take advantage of the opportunities resulting from this analysis and its conclusions. Doing this in a different way, doing it creatively turns it into an innovative activity.

To generate a series of ideas and proposals that will make it possible to build a body of knowledge on the options open to the country in the future.

- To form a trans-disciplinarian, inter-institutional working group.
- To establish criteria and priority fields for defining a framework for action.
- To organize seminars, brainstorming workshops, and continuous dialog on Venezuela's present and future.
Fundación Polar lectures
To contribute to national scientific development by creating platforms for learning about and debating the latest scientific issues.
To promote and facilitate contacts between our scientists and other social players in our country.
Specific Objectives
- To disseminate the state-of-the-art and trends in world scientific developments in areas of strategic interest for the country.
- To encourage ties and cooperation between our scientists and research groups and other social players with a view to contributing joint solutions to the pressing problems facing the country.
Biodiversity agenda: support and research
To determine biodiversity criteria and indicators with a view to guaranteeing the conservation of our biodiversity and its sustainable use.
To make contributions to CONICIT (National Scientific and Technological Research Institute) so that account is taken of the criteria and indicators thus selected when taking decisions, with the aim of achieving sustainable use of the country's biological assets.
Specific Objectives
- To quantify the value of components of goods and services that are obtained from our biodiversity and that have an economic or social value.
- To define parameters that will make possible to calculate the economic value of the goods and services that society currently obtains and will obtain from biodiversity in the future.
- To establish elements that will enable those in charge of taking decisions to take account of the value of the goods and services obtained from biodiversity in order to manage it better and achieve its conservation and sustainable use.
Geographical analysis of priorities for the conservation of biodiversity in the Caura River Basin. Conicit's Biodiversity Agenda.
To complete, evaluate and disseminate the findings of the project being conducted on the biodiversity of the Caura River Basin and its components.
To supply of validated technical information that will contribute to the formulation of a regional strategy for the conservation of the biodiversity of this river basin.
Specific Objectives
- To update and systematically organize available basic information on the distribution of the biological diversity to be found in the Caura River Basin and the status of conservation priorities within that biological diversity.
- To develop a system of geographical analysis as a tool for designing biodiversity conservation programs and as a source of inputs for developing national and institutional policies.
- To train and educate leaders of Venezuela's indigenous communities in spatial analysis and basic taxonomy of the biodiversity found in this river basin.
Dictionary of the History of Venezuela (Diccionario de Historia de Venezuela)
To offer researchers, teachers, students and professionals from all fields, and the general public reference works that lend themselves to quick consultation while providing the maximum amount of information possible on the history of Venezuela.
Specific Objectives
- To gather and organize material for a third edition.
- To apply lessons learned from working on the Diccionario de Historia de Venezuela to review the methodology used for the first and second editions.
- To review the suitability of the dictionary's entries based on the findings of the aforementioned analysis.
- To review the internal structure of the dictionary by fields and sub-fields to make it a work that is easy to consult.
- To request the Advisory Committee for its opinions concerning the findings of the aforementioned review.
FAMA - Fund of Mixed Contributions for the Arts
To promote the development of Venezuelan artists and creators by granting financial assistance for their arts training or for them to carry out their creative work
Specific Objectives
- To coordinate the second stage of the third round of the fund's awards, this time for projects that link artistic creation to social and community development.
- To coordinate the meetings of the Selection Committee.
- To coordinate the handing over of the third round of awards.
- To coordinate the budget allocation for each of the selected projects.
- To publish the results. Evaluate the process.
Research into the decentralization of Venezuela's health services
To evaluate the degree to which the different institutional arrangements that resulted from transferring responsibilities in the area of health have facilitated the provision of efficient, effective and fair services, as well as the possible impacts that the provision of those services could have on the health of the population. Have the findings included in the decision-making process with regard to medium- and long-term health policies.
