Stony corals
E&Mac183; This is the most complex and attractive area of the reef. Here you can see a wide range of shapes and colors of numerous stony coral species (60 species have been reported in Venezuela), found 4 to 45 meters deep. These corals are accompanied by diverse fauna such as sponges, anemones, starfish, urchins, fish, crustaceans, and mollusks.
The Aquarium has some samples of beautiful animals that live in the corral reefs. You can see Queen Angelfish (Holacanthus ciliaris), Rock Beauty Angelfish (Holacanthus tricolor), Butterflyfish (Chaetodon capistratus, C. striatus and C. ocellatus.), and surgeons or leeches.
Some of the invertebrates include the Arrow or Spider Crab (Stenorynchus seticornis), Banded Coral Shrimp (Stenopus hispidus), Spiny Lobster (Panulirus argus), starfish, urchins, shells, etc.
