Central region
- Central coastline or "Litoral Central": The main feature of the coast along Venezuela's central region is the mountain range that drops almost vertically into the sea and continues under the surface of the water without forming a continental platform. The continuity of this mountainous wall is only interrupted by narrow torrents and some coves, bays and beaches, such as Cata, Cuyagua and, on the far western side, Ocumare de la Costa, La Ciénaga and the large Bay of Turiamo.
- Simón Bolívar de Maiquetía Airport and the La Guaira Port: The photograph clearly shows how the man has drastically changed the landscape along this stretch of the central mountain range, in particular Maiquetía Airport and La Guaira Port, not to mention the large number of breakwaters that have been built where there are resorts and marine clubs. Following the landslides caused by the heavy rains in December 1999, the topography of some parts of the region changed considerably
