Boats showed
- Piragua: This boat did not have a continuous deck, and it had a lateen type rigging similar to the Mediterranean lateener, which carried a jib, a large triangular lateen mainsail, and a fore leech attached to the lateen yard or spar. The fore leech was set at 45m to the mainsail mast, which was very short and tilted forward. Between 8 and 9 m long, with a beam of between 1.50 and 2.60 m, and a depth of hold of between 0.90 and 1.50 m, the "piragua" was the boat that was most used on Margarita Island until half way through the 20th century, particularly for all types of fishing and for catching pearl oysters. "Piragua" is a Carib word that was adopted by the Spaniards and subsequently used to describe a large number of exotic boats.
