Cast net

This is an individual net used to catch fast-moving coastal species. It can be cast from a boat or from shore. The picture of a fisherman with the cast net gathered up in his left hand and a sinker in his mouth, leaning forward and intently scanning the water, following the movements of the fish to throw the net at just the right moment is one of the most evocative of fishing on Margarita. The cast net is used mainly to catch mullet, mojarras and other similar fish.
