La Restinga Lagoon National Park
- With an area of 22,000 hectares, this national park contains two environments: the lagoon itself, with its flora associated, to a greater or lesser degree, with the water or the adjacent saline soils, and an extensive xerophylic environment in the northern part of Macanao beach.
- A spectacular diorama shows the entire lagoon environment with all the birds, both those that are permanent residents of the lagoon and its visitors, each one with its name.
- Next to the diorama is a detailed map of the lagoon showing its main characteristics and all the local names for the different channels and internal sub-lagoons.
- The xerophilous environment is represented in two showcases in the center of the exhibition hall. One contains specimens of the area's most typical birds, such as the "chulinga", a species of thrush, and the cardinal bird. The other contains specimens of land creatures, mainly reptiles. Both showcases have texts describing their contents.
- There is a third showcase with two magnificent stuffed specimens of the brown pelican, one in flight and the other sitting on its eggs.
- Completing this exhibition hall is a replica of a pleasure craft from La Restinga donated by the Asociación de Lancheros, and a series of large color photographs of the Park's two environments: the lake and the land.
- All the taxidermy was done by Mr. Pablo Figueroa and the decoration of the diorama by the painter Moisés Paredes.
